The team at SJJA Kawana are exactly what I was hoping for when I was looking for somewhere that my 3yo son could begin. After a year, we are still extremely happy with the friendly and supportive environment created by the instructors. Professor Bruno in particular is wonderfully patient, yet playful and fun with the little ones making it an enjoyable experience (even for the parents sitting on the side of the mat). My son has developed so much in his self-confidence whilst being in the classes. Prior to SJJA, he would go from 0-100 and lash out way too quickly, often way over the top required for the situation. He now understands more about personal space, and handling conflict in a more measured way (he's still a 4yo boy after all so we are still far from perfect). However, I attribute a lot of his growth in this area to the way in which the instructors have introduced the ideas of being comfortable in close proximity to other people (through the grappling/technique drills). SJJA Kawana has Been the best thing that has happened in my life and my two Sons. Without the Encouragement of Gus, Bruno, Brianna and Tiago i would not have started back BJJ after 12 years off the Mats. I Have trained at two other Clubs and SJJA Kawana is on another level of Respect for Each Other, making the Classes enjoyable for Adults and kids, Super Friendly Coaches and Training Partners. The Coaches knowledge of Jiu-jitsu is World Class and is Very Effective. Very Clean Gym also. It makes a world of difference on the Mats and off the Mats. My kids have changed so much from starting at SJJA, the Coaches are Awesome with Kids, making the Classes Fun and with Learning New Skills of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. We Can Not Thankyous Enough. Enrolling my son Gabriel at SJJA Kawana was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made! The coaches are incredible – patient, dedicated, and truly care about each child’s growth on and off the mats. Gabriel’s self-confidence has improved a lot since he started, and I can see how much he has grown not only in skills but also in discipline and respect. I love SJJA Kawana. I started around 1-2 years ago and my confidence has grown significantly. In the last few months I have started assistant coaching and I love it! SJJA is such an encouraging community, always encouraging kids to do their best and try new things. I highly recommend giving it a try. My son and I both train at SJJA Kawana and I could not recommend it enough. My son has gained confidence and friendships with other kids and I absolutely love learning new skills and challenging myself. Jujitsu is incredible for strategic thinking and problem solving as well as fitness. The team at SJJA are so welcoming and it really is a family community feel.
